Character Concept "Nuzzler"

Here are some of my Concept Arts and 3D previews of the character "Nuzzler". It is the main character of Dominik Saur's and my Bachelor Game "The lost Books of Calon" which will be released in June 2011. I worked a lot on this Character Concepts and I spent many hours for the 3D Model and the Animations (wahh animating is such a hard job^^). I know it doesn't look perfect at the moment but I am satsfied with the result. The only thing I don't like is the texture (which is hand painted). I wanted that it looks like long fluffy fur but I think it looks to smooth (fur is a pain to paint!). But at the moment I am working on the environment and a lot of 3D Assest who can soon be implemented in the game, so I don't have time to make big changes on the model. So my day is full of modeling modeling, and more modeling of caves, barrels and so on^^ In my next Bachelor Entry I will show you some Concept Arts of the Environment :)

Fantoche 2010, Disney and a Concept Artist

Last week our school was presenting our selfmade games on Fantoche.
It was so stressful in the last few weeks, so I didn't have the time to do something other than working/finishing my game-.- But now it is finally over and I spleeped so much the last few days and played a lot (I need playing another game than my own-.-). I just needed a break of EVERYTHING and just sitting at home and relaxing. So I feel very very sorry I didn't have the time chatting a lot :(
So anyway I wanted to show you some pictures of my game "Imagical". It's a Jump'n'Run Adventure, where the player is a fairy and flying through the magical worlds which based on shadow plays. You have to find all magical book to help the fairy to complete the fairy tale. It is very simple :) I was not sure if I am going to upload the game here, because you need a XBOX 360 Controller to play it.
But if you wanna game it anyway, let me know and I will upload it ;)

I also had the chance to talk with a Disney Art Director and show him my Portfolio. He was very exhausted about my Artworks and he told me, I definitely have good chances to be hired by a game company :) He also said I should focus on my Character Design and working out my own style a bit more. I was soo happy after this talk, that I am so motivated giving 100% this next few months and going to apply for some companys :D

I also had the chance visiting a presentation of Christian Lorenz Scheurer, one of the most famous Swiss Concept Artist in the world. You definitely should visit his website, because he makes so awesome artworks *.* Unfortunately he was so busy so I didn't could talk to much to him, but I am going to keep in touch with him per mail :D

Waaahh I wrote so much-.- I think I will going to upload a picture I did yesterday :S
This week it is also the last week before school is starting and I have so much pictures I will finish soon ^-^

3D Character Animation - Final Rendering

Last week in school! Lots of projects who have been "finished" :)
I finally rendered my 3D Animation of my Character Samirah. The movie is really short and it doesn't look like I planned it months ago. But for the moment I am happy I can put this project aside for a moment ( I want to go ahead with it maybe in summer). Next week I can fully give my whole energy in painting pictures and push up my portfolio :) So keep an eye on my website for some updates and open commissions.

First Steps in Character Animation

This is a Test Video of my work I did the last few days and week. Character Modeling (High and Low Poly) is not as easy as I thought :( and texturing is a pain-.- I needed hours painting the textures and the result doesn't look like I want-.- But animating is much easier and faster to do..In the Video below you can see some first steps of animating a character in a simple backgroundXDDD ( actually I wanted that she jump but the animation isn't finished so she looks more like an old woman XDD and I know it is awful-.-) Don't know how many time I will invest in this process until it is finished ( but in 3 weeks school is over anyway...)

Some Sketches and not enough time-.-


Awwww..I am very busy at the moment-.- I did a lot for school (Character Design and modeling, programming a new game, learn Javascript-.-) at the last few weeks and I didn't draw very much. but I started with Modeling my Original Character "Samirah", which was very fun to do^^ I am very happy with her but I am not very excited with the design (she looks to common and not unique) which really annoyed me (very good Character Design is not as easy as I thought-).- Anyway next 4 weeks I will have a break (cause of a workshop our school is giving^^) and I hope to do some new Artworks.
Ahhh I also took 1 or 2 hours a day to play the new Final Fantasy XIII, and it is such a phantastic game*.* anyone who has a PS3 or a XBOX 360: GO AND BUY IT!^^

So after a looooong time, I am finally done (with one project^^). I spent a lot of time on modeling my Rewrap in 3DS Max. I know I wrote it before, but I only can say again and again..it wasn't easy for me:S At the end I really enjoy modeling, I also think about learning professional character modeling with ZBrush soon, but for the moment I want to draw again on some pictures I never finished :)

W.I.P Rewrap Tomb Raider Underworld



At the moment I haven't enough time to draw a new picture because we have a big schoolproject (and I also play to much CoD Modern Warfare 2^^).
Anyway in this school project we have to model a Level from our favourite game. I haven chosen Tomb raider Underworld (Level in Thailand). I am not really talented in 3D modeling and -.- I love drawing much more than modeling some 3D environment. This was one of my first steps in 3Ds Max and it took me a lot of hours and I am happy with the rendershots .
At this time I am still modeling because that what you see on the picture is just an 1/4 form the whole scenery^^

Done in 3Ds Max | many many houres (40 houres maybe?)

3D Modeling


I am very busy at the moment. I had some comissions I have to finish, personal works and also a lot of school stuff.
For school we have to model a Level from our favourite game. I chose Tomb Raider Legend, the Level in Thailand (I love the jungle atmosphere^^). Modeling isn't as difficult as I thought but my bigest trouble is modeling trees-.- I hate them so much! But for my Level Deisgn trees are one of the most important thing :S
Anyway here you can see a rendershot of my 3D Model at the beginner state.
